We caught up with Davide Rossi on Goldfrapp's UK tour to hear what he had to say about his Line 6 gear...What brought you guys together?
It must have been 1998. I met Will in a studio session in Bath. For those who don’t know, Will Gregory and Alison Goldfrapp are… Goldfrapp. Well… I guess we clicked on very well that day because a year later he called me to join the band for their first live dates. Since then I have been talking part to all the touring that has been going on until now.
When did you first pick up a guitar and was it your first instrument?
I picked up a guitar ‘seriously’ for the very first time about three months ago… I am a violin player first and a keyboard player secondly.
What about gear, what are you currently using and how?
The gear that I am currently using for the Goldfrapp shows is:
Line 6 Variax!!! Anda Seymour Duncan amp. Effects: (for violin and guitar): mini-synthesizer (Electro-Harmonix), fuzz-probe, octane 3 and the machine (Z-vex effects www.zvex.com) a Morley wha and a TC Electronic G-Force. Violins: a superb 7 string VIOLECTRA made by David Bruce Johnson, possibly the best electric -violin maker in the world (www.violectra.co.uk).
How did you get into Line 6 gear?
My first line 6 piece of gear was the green delay modeller, which I tried with my Violectra in a music shop somewhere in NYC… I was VERY impressed with it and so was everybody else in the shop…
What models are you using on the Variax?
I am using four models at the moment: Lester 2, R-billy 4, T-model 1, a GREAT Sitar sample and acoustic 5. I use them with different tunings and modified pick-up settings.

Line 6 is the ultimate live gear: It’s practicle, it sounds amazing, it’s reliable… what more can one dream or wish for a piece of equipment? Without the Variax, this process would be so much more painful and to be honest almost impossible.
